Together In Faith is the ongoing pastoral planning process that involves every parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit. The Archdiocese is served by thousands of priests, deacons, religious sisters and lay ministers; operates countless prayer and outreach ministries; holds hundreds of church and school properties; and has as its mission to share Christ with millions of people living in southeastern Michigan. Together In Faith is the process used by the parishes to put all available resources on the table and – with clergy and lay members together – discern how we can best use those resources to maintain, strengthen and grow the Catholic Church.
Together In Faith focuses on the seven mission priorities of the Archdiocese of Detroit, as described by Archbishop Vigneron in his February 2012 Pastoral Letter, Forward in Faith to Share Christ. These mission priorities are not just a part of Together In Faith – they are the main goals of every initiative taken in the Catholic Church of Detroit. As part of pastoral planning, each parish identifies how its planning will address the seven mission priorities.
The seven mission priorities of the Archdiocese of Detroit are at the heart of all Together In Faith efforts.
St. Lawrence, St. Isidore, St. Kieran, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. John Vianney, SS. John and Paul, and St. Clement of Rome
These parishes are to develop collaboration partnerships to be submitted to the Regional Moderator no later than June 30, 2012, including plans for evaluating programs and determining areas for collaboration if there is a need for implementation of a temporary cluster. In this way, the pastors and parishes will have already developed relationships, even though these would be short term, temporary clusters in the event of an emergency vacancy of a pastorate.
St. Francis/St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Mary Mystical Rose
In early 2012, St. Francis/St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Mary Mystical Rose are to move forward as cluster partners and develop a cluster plan to be submitted to the Regional Moderator no later than June 30, 2012. The cluster plan should be implemented when a current pastor is no longer available, if a replacement is not available to be assigned, or when either parish begins to experience a net operating deficit. Plans should commence with models for initial collaboration and include contingency plans for programming, outreach and administration, for clustering/merging the parishes, and/or closing buildings and planning for the sale of property. This may result in short term, temporary administrators assigned, or a more permanent solution.
