Doris Mary Jackson of Armada died peacefully at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the age of 80 years.
Doris was born on June 16, 1936 in Center Line, Michigan. She was one of five children born to Frank and Susan G. (nee Burg) Smith. Doris was a 1954 graduate of St. Clement Catholic High School. Just after her 21st birthday, on July 27, 1957, she married William "Joe" Jackson at St. Clement Catholic Church in Centerline.
Besides the full time job of wife and mother, Doris also worked as an executive secretary for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church in Armada. Doris enjoyed quilting, painting, reading and taking walks. She truly appreciated the value of family and loved spending time with them. Doris will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.
Doris is survived by her children, Kim (Randy) Jackson Grigg, Julie (David) Dean, Joseph (Hong) Jackson, Larry (Paula) Jackson and Mary Brigette (Gary) Nowaczyk; grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer) Grigg, Jared Grigg, Alicia (Donovan) Ennis, Brandon Grigg, Nick Dean, Mike (Shannon) Dean, Phil Dean, Zane Jackson, Wei Han Jackson, Isaac Jackson, William Jackson, Brooke Nowaczyk, Bryce Nowaczyk and Paige Nowaczyk; great-grandchildren, Alexis Dean, Lucas Dean, Landon Dean, Abigail Grigg, Callie Grigg and Corbin Grigg; and sister, Ina Rose Busch. Doris was predeceased by her husband, William "Joe"; brothers, Frank Smith, Earl Smith and Wendel “Jim” Smith; and her parents, Frank and Susan G. Smith.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at Tiffany, Young, Hauss & Modetz Funeral Home, 73919 South Fulton St., Armada. Instate at 9:30 a.m. with 10:00 a.m. Mass on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church, 24040 Armada Ridge Road, Armada. Burial and Committal Service will be at West Berlin Cemetery in Berlin Township at 2:00 p.m. following the luncheon.
